On discipline

  1. I don’t need external rigor; I need internal discipline.
  2. Discipline doesn’t have to be tight and sharp; the best kind is soft, gentle and steady. It’s a meditation on attention.
  3. Discipline isn’t about resisting outside things like I thought; it’s about relating to what’s most true, and letting go the need to control what obstructs the truth…discipline is love (?!)
  4. Discipline is the labor of love we agree to when we decide to care for our relationship with ourselves.
